Chiang Dao Kayaking Expedition

Chiang Mai : Chiang Dao, Jungle Kayak Adventure 17 Kilometers

Activities by : Chiang Mai Mountain Biking & Kayaks

Activity Information :

This trip is seasonal, with difficult changing depending on the water levels.

  • Winter (November - Feburary): Medium water levels are easy to navigate.
  • Summer (March - June): Moderate water levels, navigation is more difficult due to low water levels - easy to get caught on rocks or tree branches.
  • Monsoon (July - October): High water levels make the river flow faster with more rapids than any other season.

This is a kayaking fans dream day out, navigating the lush waterways of the Ping River to the north of Chiang Mai, deep in the jungle. Starting out on easy streams, you can get your bearings before heading down through 17km of mangrove forests, navigate rapids, dodge rocks and take in the natural beauty around you at the same time. This trip is suitable for able children aged 12 and up.

There are thee viewpoints along the way that are ones not to miss out. The first is the views of wild nature, as you begin deep in the jungle, away from any civilsation. The second is where the river widens and you break into open air, with stunning views of the Chiang Dao Doi Luang mountain in all its glory. The third point is the local riverside community that you will pass through near the end of the journey. There are fisheries and local animal farms along a rather rocky part of the river.
